1. Aim
To motivate students to get involved in school life proactively and establish positive and proactive values through positive school culture.
2. Objective
2.1. To build positive school culture: to compliment or reward instead of scolding and punishing;
2.2. To provide a set of tangible and practical guidelines for students taking part in various activities;
2.3. To provide a pleasant and meaningful campus life;
2.4. To provide creative and diverse events;
2.5. To develop students’ sense of belonging to the school; and
2.6. To cultivate student leaders.
3. Implementation
3.1. All students in the school must be involved;
3.2. The programme is carried out in five stages: red badge, green badge, purple badge, silver badge and gold badge;
3.3. The statistics are collected every four months (twice a year) and badge promotion will be arranged. Class teachers will be informed of the date of card collection;
3.4. The awards are divided into three categories;
3.5. A merit will be awarded for students who have teachers signed for them every 5 times;
3.6. After every badge promotion, teacher’s signatures will be re-calculated;
3.7. Badge promotion criteria: to get a red badge, students must achieve two of the three categories of diligence, service and leadership;
to get a green badge, students must achieve three out of the three categories;
to get a purple badge, students must achieve four out of the three categories;
to get a silver badge, students must achieve four out of the three categories, with two of them designated with “*” and submit a 200-word reflection essay;
to get a gold badge, students must achieve five out of the three categories of diligence, service and leadership, with two of them designated with “*” and submit a 350-word reflection essay (a commemorative wooden shield will be awarded);
3.8. For any outside-school “*” events signed on the silver and gold badge reward cards, a copy of participation proof must be submitted;
3.9. The gold-badge-awarding students will be rewarded a wooden shield in the graduation ceremony or extracurriculum activities award ceremony;
10. Students who have accomplished the stage of gold badge can be signed as gold badge again in order to obtain a merit, but will not be rewarded another wooden shield;
11. If there are more than 10 students who have achieved the gold badge in a year, “Outstanding Gold Badge” students will be selected for being awarded the wooden shield after the interview by the Assessment Committee. Besides, students are also recommended to keep all the essays and submitted documents in a folder for assessment and interview use.
